Patent and Trademark Attorneys of IPR GROUP took part in workshop conference «SCHOOL OF PATENT EXAMINATION – 2011» held by Moscow branch of «Chamber of Patent and Trademark Attorneys».

Participants of the conference discussed a broad range of issues and tendencies of development and application of the legislation in IP as well as theory and practice of granting rights according to the national and international procedures in Russia and abroad. In particular, participants debated the issues of legal framework for the regulation of individualizing means in Russia Federation (trademarks, trade names, geographical designations). Agenda of the conference also covered the issues of European judicial practices in the registration of EU trademarks.

Among the honorable speakers of the conference were:

Kaliagin Vitaliy Olegovich, PhD in Law, leading lawyer in the field of Intellectual Property of the State Committee «Rosnanotekh», Professor of the School of Private Law, member of the panel on transformation of the State Committee. The topic of his report was «Basic changes in the fourth part of Civil Code of Russian Federation, issues of domain names protection, new forms of intellectual rights disposal and issues of service inventions».

Tatiana Demchenko, lawyer of Information Department of WIPO, with the report «International registration of the trademarks in Madrid system».

Boris Ivanovich Mashkin, Patent and Trademark Attorney of Russian Federation, with the report «Trademark as the object of cost estimation of exclusive rights».

Participants of the conference also discussed the project of Agreement on common principles for the regulation of trademarks protection and service marks protection under the conditions of common custom space (Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan) as well as prospects of Agreement on common procedures for registration of trademarks and names of goods place of origin (geographical designations) between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
