Global Perspectives, Industry Discussions, and the Evolving Intellectual Property Landscape
IPR GROUP participated in the 2026 International Trademark Association Annual Meeting held at ExCeL London from May 2 to May 6, 2026. As one of the leading annual events in the intellectual property sector, INTA once again brought together thousands of professionals, including practitioners, brand owners, legal experts, policymakers, and business representatives from more than 140 jurisdictions.
As a regular participant in INTA Annual Meetings, IPR GROUP team finds that the event continues to serve as an important platform for professional engagement, industry discussions, and the development of international cooperation within the IP community. The meeting provided opportunities to reconnect with long-standing professional contacts, strengthen existing relationships, and establish new connections across different regions and sectors.
Throughout the week, discussions reflected a number of significant developments affecting the global intellectual property landscape. Innovation, technology, enforcement practices, and the changing commercial role of intellectual property remained central themes across numerous sessions and meetings.
One of the major topics during INTA 2026 was the increasing impact of artificial intelligence on intellectual property practice and brand protection. Discussions addressed how AI is influencing trademark clearance, portfolio management, online enforcement, patent related processes, anti-counterfeiting initiatives, and broader legal practice. Industry participants also examined issues relating to AI generated content, ownership considerations, evolving regulatory approaches, and the interaction between technological advancement and legal frameworks.
The conference also highlighted the continued growth in the value and importance of intangible assets within modern business strategies. Topics involving trademarks, patents, licensing, commercialization, digital enforcement, and international portfolio management demonstrated the increasingly strategic role of intellectual property in supporting investment, innovation, and international business development.
An additional area of discussion involved the intersection of sports and intellectual property. Various sessions focused on subjects including sports branding, image rights, sponsorship protection, broadcasting rights, merchandising, and digital engagement. These discussions illustrated the broader role of intellectual property across sectors extending beyond traditional legal environments into media, technology, entertainment, and global commerce.
During the Annual Meeting, the IPR GROUP team held meetings and discussions with international associates, law firms, in-house counsel, and brand representatives. The discussions covered a range of intellectual property matters, including trademark prosecution, patent filing and prosecution, patent translation services, designs, utility models, domain disputes, copyright matters, enforcement strategies, and cross-border portfolio management.
As a firm with extensive experience across the CIS region and neighboring jurisdictions, IPR GROUP also discussed its ongoing work and capabilities in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and surrounding territories. The event also provided opportunities to explore future cooperation with international associates and discuss practical approaches to better support clients operating across multiple jurisdictions.
In addition to formal meetings and conference sessions, INTA continued to provide an environment that facilitates professional dialogue through networking events and informal interactions.
