A regular UNION-IP Executive Committee Meeting held this time, on May 2-4, 2019 in Zagreb (Croatia).
In line with the agenda, committee members discussed news and recent developments in trademark and patent practices in member-countries, as well as changes in European IP regulations. After presentations from Committee Heads and discussions, recommendations for improvements in the methodology and approaches related to trademark and patent, in particular European countries and the EU IP practice in general, were approved by the members.
The participation of Ukrainian IP practitioners in European professional associations such as Union-IP, are especially vital in connection with the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement, which envisages adjustments of Ukrainian legislation and practices in IP protection to the European provisions of law.
During the meeting, the representative of the IPR Group from Ukraine was given the floor to present the general aspects and recent changes in provisions of IP regulations and practices in Ukraine, in connection with the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement. It was also proposed to consider Kiev as one of the possible locations for hosting the UNION-IP ExCo meeting in the near future.
Another result of this meeting was an expansion of the UNION-IP membership by admitting new members from Croatia and Ukraine.
Zagreb welcomed participants with a nice and warm weather. The meeting agenda included not only the official program and discussions, but also interesting excursions, delicious food in national restaurants and pleasant informal communication between participants.
We would like to acknowledge the stellar event organization and express our sincere gratitude to the colleagues from Belgrade, for their outstanding efforts in organizing and conducting such a remarkable meeting.
